HorseSense for Special Riders has been dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals with special needs in the greater La Crosse area since 1989. Through our therapeutic horseback riding program and strong partnerships with our horses, we have created a unique combination of sport, recreation, education, and most of all, fun. Our programs provide multiple benefits for individuals with physical, cognitive or psychological disabilities. Students will also gain confidence by mastering riding skills and in the process will find new friends in the horses, instructors, volunteers, and other students.

HSSR operates under the rules and regulations of PATH Intl (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International.)

Volunteer

HorseSense is always looking for more volunteers to help with our sessions. Lesson volunteers work directly with instructors to provide assistance prior to and during lessons. Horse leaders and side walkers work closely with the rider, assisting with preparation before the lessons and developing strong relationships with the riders and horses.

Support

HSSR relies on the generosity of our donors and volunteers. Lesson fees cover only a fraction of the cost it takes to run the program. Your support allows us to continue to enrich the lives of individuals with special needs through a partnership with the horse.
